Colonic

A colonic, also known as colon hydrotherapy or colonic irrigation, is a procedure in which warm, filtered water is gently introduced into the large intestine through the rectum to help flush out stool and accumulated waste, typically performed by a trained practitioner using a closed, sanitary system during a 30–60-minute session. While many people seek colonics for relief from constipation, bloating, or as part of a detox or wellness routine, they are not considered medically essential for healthy individuals because the colon naturally eliminates waste on its own. To prepare, it is recommended to eat light, easily digestible foods 24–48 hours beforehand, avoid heavy or processed meals, alcohol, and excessive caffeine, increase water intake, and refrain from eating a large meal a few hours before the appointment. Afterward, hydration and gentle nutrition are important to support recovery. Individuals should disclose any medical conditions prior to treatment and avoid colonics if they have active inflammatory bowel disease, rectal bleeding, recent colon surgery, or other serious gastrointestinal conditions. While generally safe when performed properly, potential risks can include cramping, dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, and, in rare cases, infection or bowel injury.

Yoni Steam Therapy

A yoni steam, also known as vaginal steaming or V-steam, is a traditional wellness practice in which a person sits over a pot of warm, herb-infused steam that gently surrounds the external vaginal area (vulva), often using herbs such as mug wort, rosemary, or calendula for relaxation and cycle support. While some individuals view it as beneficial for menstrual comfort, postpartum care (with medical approval), or intentional self-care rituals, it is not considered medically essential, as the vagina is naturally self-cleansing and maintains its own healthy balance without steaming. To prepare, individuals should avoid steaming during pregnancy or menstruation, hydrate well, eat lightly beforehand, shower prior to the session, and ensure the steam temperature is warm—not hot—to prevent burns. Sessions typically last 20–30 minutes, and it is advisable to rest and stay warm afterward. Yoni steaming should not be used to treat infections or medical conditions, and those with gynecological concerns, recent surgeries, IUDs, or recurrent infections should consult a healthcare provider beforehand, as improper practice may cause irritation, burns, or disruption of the natural vaginal pH.

Tony (Lingam) Steam

A Tony (Lingam) steam, sometimes referred to as a male herbal steam, is a wellness practice in which a man sits over warm, herb-infused steam intended to gently surround the external genital area, with the goal of promoting relaxation, circulation, and overall pelvic wellness. The term “lingam” originates from ancient Sanskrit traditions and is commonly used in holistic wellness settings to describe male intimate care. While some proponents claim benefits such as improved prostate support, enhanced circulation, stress reduction, or reproductive balance, it is not considered medically essential, and there is limited scientific evidence supporting detoxification or therapeutic claims. To prepare, individuals should ensure they are not experiencing active infections, open sores, recent surgeries, or prostate conditions without medical clearance; hydrate well, eat lightly beforehand, and maintain proper hygiene prior to the session. The steam temperature should always be tested to avoid burns, sessions should generally last no more than 15–30 minutes, and rest afterward is recommended. It is important not to use excessively hot steam, not to substitute steaming for medical treatment of urological or reproductive conditions, and not to overuse the practice, as improper technique or excessive heat may cause irritation, burns, or sensitivity.

Infrared Sauna

An infrared sauna is a type of sauna that uses infrared light to generate radiant heat, which penetrates the body directly rather than heating the air around you like a traditional sauna, leading to a deep, sweat-inducing experience at generally lower ambient temperatures. Many people use infrared saunas for relaxation, muscle recovery, circulation support, and stress reduction, and while some consider it an important part of their wellness routine, it is not medically essential for healthy individuals. To prepare, it is recommended to hydrate well several hours before the session, avoid heavy meals and alcohol beforehand, shower to remove lotions or oils, and wear light, breathable clothing or a towel. Sessions typically last 20–45 minutes depending on tolerance, and it is important to listen to your body, sit or lie down carefully to prevent dizziness, and rehydrate afterward with water or electrolytes. Individuals with cardiovascular conditions, uncontrolled blood pressure, pregnancy, or heat sensitivity should consult a healthcare provider before use. It is advisable not to overstay your session, not to enter dehydrated, and not to treat sauna use as a substitute for medical care, as excessive heat exposure can lead to dehydration, lightheadedness, or overheating if not done responsibly.
